Mike is a seasoned MedTech operator, entrepreneur, and cofounder of Carlsmed®. He was named as an EY Entrepreneur of the Year and to the SD500 as one of the most influential people in San Diego. Mike has operating experience at private and public companies, including NuVasive Specialized Orthopedics, Zimmer Biomet, Orchid Orthopedics, X-Spine Systems, and YSI. He is active in the entrepreneur community and servers as an advisor to San Diego based non-profits EvoNexus and SD Connect. Mike has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
Jodi is a strategic business manager playing an integral role in decision-making and planning. She supports leadership in the development of long-term business planning and strategy. Jodi develops messaging to effectively communicate and implement Carlsmed®‘s vision. She holds an M.B.A. from California State University and B.A. in Political Science from University of Illinois.
Sharon leads clinical and marketing. She has held senior leadership positions in marketing and surgical affairs at market leaders J&J and Stryker, as well as key C-suite positions at startups Micropore Biosurgery, N-Spine, and Tissue Regeneration Systems, which all had successful exits. Sharon has a B.S. in Medical Technology from Loyola University Maryland.
Niall leads IP and technology strategy and is cofounder of Carlsmed®. He is a spine industry veteran, with previous technology leadership roles at Alphatec Spine, Ellipse Technologies, NuVasive, and J&J DePuy Synthes Spine. Niall earned a J.D. from Suffolk University and an M.S. and B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
Shariq directs digital surgery for Carlsmed®. He has a strong track record of entrepreneurship and execution in technology and executive leadership roles at MedTech companies Intelliguard Solutions and Safety Syringes. Shariq has an M.B.A. in Technology Management from National University, a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from UCSD, and a B.S. in Information Technology from National University.
Daryle is an experienced supply chain leader and operations professional with experience working in the medical device industry, including more than twenty years at Zimmer Biomet. Daryle has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego.
Tim has over 25 years of sales leadership and global market management experience. He has a proven track record of introducing disruptive technology in both the robotic surgery and augmented reality markets having worked with successful startup companies such as Intuitive Surgical, Mazor Robotics and Augmedics. Tim holds a B.A. in Business Administration in Operations Management from Western Illinois University.
Art serves as Vice President of Marketing and leads our team of product marketing, brand and technology awareness professionals. Before joining Carlsmed®, he held brand and product marketing positions with global medical technology companies focused on assisting spine, trauma and complex limb reconstruction surgeons improve their patients’ quality of life.

Jon is a General Partner at U.S. Venture Partners. He serves as a Board Member at Edgewise Therapeutics, Inari Medical, Silverback Therapeutics, Cleave Therapeutics, HealthJoy, Okami Medical, Omada Health, Nuvaira, Ribon Therapeutics, Route 92 Medical and Sparrow Pharmaceuticals. Jon previously served as a Board Member at eFFECTOR Therapeutics, Lutonix, Microvention, OncoMed Pharmaceuticals, Sequent Medical and Proteolix. Before USVP, Jon was an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Director of the Neurology-Neurosurgery Special Care Unit at Cornell Medical Center. He holds an M.D. from the University of Florida College of Medicine, an M.B.A. from Columbia University, and an A.B. in Economics from Dartmouth College.
Robert is a General Partner and Head of Healthcare who leads venture and growth investments at B Capital in the sector. Robert and his team have led investments in Hotspot Therapeutics, Lively, Aetion, Oncomyx, and Triumvira OR. He currently serves as a Board Director or Board Observer at Hotspot Therapeutics, Lively, Aetion, Oncomyx, and Triumvira. Previously, he served as a Board Director or Observer at Impel NeuroPharma, Silk Road Medical, TigerConnect, Avalyn Pharma, Neocis, Telcare, VisitPay, IntersectENT, iRhythm, Omada, TalkSpace, and iCardiac. Prior to his career in venture capital, Robert led Marketing and Business Development at Hansen Medical. He earned an M.D. from Harvard University, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.A. in International Relations from Kings College London.
Phil serves as Senior Advisor at US Venture Partners, following 20 years as a managing general partner of the firm. He previously served as a Board Member at Aerogen, Aptus Endosystems, CardioThoracic Systems, CardioVascular Imaging Systems, CoCensys, Compugen, Dotomi, FemRx, HeartFlow, La Jolla Pharmaceuticals, Penederm, 3Dfx Interactive, RelayHealth, SentreHEART, Simpirica Spine, Synarc, St. Francis Medical Technologies, The Immune Response Corporation, Vical, Xoma and Zoran. Prior to USVP, Phil was the President and CEO of Oximetrix, a manufacturer of critical care instruments and disposables. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Cornell University and was the Chair of eCornell for nearly 20 years. He earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in Engineering Physics from George Washington University, and a B.M.E. from Cornell University.
Kevin is a Board Member at Intrinsic Therapeutics, Miach Orthopaedics, Razor Medical, FzioMed, Shoulder Innovations, and Moximed. He previously served on the Board at Rotation Medical, Ceterix, and Pivot Medical. Kevin is the past CEO of St. Francis Medical Technologies and Moximed, as well as past Worldwide President of Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopedics. He has a B.S. in Accounting from West Virginia University.
